One among four children in the US lives in a situation of food insecurity. In 30 years, the price of healthy foods went up 40 %, while processed foods became 40 % cheaper. These are some of the data presented by A Place at the Table, a film that brings to the center of American life the question of hunger. From the makers of An Inconvenient Truth and Food Inc., this documentary investigates the topic through three characters in the food insecurity rate, and features interviews with specialists who propose alternatives for a permanent solution. Kristi Jacobson, Lori Silverbush
Kristi Jacobson has helmed several independent documentaries and television programs in the last decade. Her directorial debut was American Standoff (2002). She was at the head of Emmy-nominated series Colonial House (2004). Lori Silverbush’s directorial debut was On the Outs (2004), a low-budget film that was very well-received at the Toronto Film Festival. She is currently working in a remake of FC Venus, a Finnish box-office hit.
