Wood Allen´s Blue Jasmine screens Sunday Allen's latest drama is already being tipped as an Oscar front runner.
Woody Allen's critically acclaimed Blue Jasmine gets its first festival screening at Festival do Rio on Sunday at Cinemark Downtown at 21.30.
Allen's film recalls Tennessee Williams' classic play A Streetcar Named Desire, with Cate Blanchett playing fallen New York socialite, Jasmine.
Blanchett has emerged as an early frontrunner for this year's best actress Academy Awards, following rave reviews for her performance in Blue Jasmine. Blanchett won the Oscar for best supporting actress for her performance as Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator, in 2005.
Allen is also being tipped to be nominated for his direction and screenplay.
