The director of Festival do Rio l Rio de Janeiro Int'l Film Festival, Ilda Santiago, was joined by three other illustrious and influential participants from the film festival scene on Friday (6 October) to discuss the criteria, challenges and trends that shape the choice of films for international festivals, as well as the importance of these events in promoting world cinema and discovering new talent.
A topic that is also covered and addressed in the documentary “Cannes Uncut” that is screening Sunday in the festival’s World Panorama section.
Ilda’s fellow participants in the RioMarket panel on Friday at the festival HQ at Rua do Russel 76 included Pamela Biénzobas from the Locarno International Film Festival; Gaia Furrer of Venice’s Giornate Degli Autori, and a member of the Première Brasil jury; and Florian Borchmeyer from the Munich Film Festival.
The panel wias expertly moderated by Josephine Bourgois, the executive director of the Projeto Paradiso.
