Talent Press Rio is a training programme for critics and journalists from Portuguese-speaking countries, held within the framework of Festival do Rio. The result of a partnership between the Berlinale Talents of the Berlin Film Festival, Festival do Rio, the Goethe-Institut, the Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique (FIPRESCI) and the Brazilian Association of Film Critics (Abraccine), the programme aims to contribute to the education and training of young critics and journalists, creating opportunities for exchange between the Portuguese-speaking countries and strengthening the cultural ties between these countries.

Participants can experience a major international film event, participate in meetings, debates and master classes with Brazilian and international guests, besides, of course, conducting interviews and writing reviews, reports and essays, under the supervision of experienced professionals. The texts are published on the websites of the programme and the partner institutions. The program also includes discussions about the curatorship of film festivals and exhibitions, nowadays intrinsically related to critical activity. Talent Press Rio is one of the international arms of the Berlinale Talents programme, and the only one exclusively focused on Portuguese-speaking countries.

Talent Press Rio is part of a group of seven Talents International initiatives, which have a similar structure to Berlin, while maintaining their own regional perspectives and benefiting from local film festival networks. They are: Talents Buenos Aires, Talents Beirut, Talents Guadalajara, Talents Durban, Talents Sarajevo, Talents Tokyo and Talent Press Rio itself.
