Taking Brazil to the World, Bringing the World to Brazil Focus turned Friday to the role of film festivals, film commissions and tourism in helping to take Brazil (and its films) to the world, and bring the world to Brazil (to make movies)
Friday was another very busy day at RioMarket which included a discussion between film festival programmers that counted amongst them Ilda Santiago (Rio Film Festival), Michael Stutz (Berlin Film Festival), Susan Wrubel (Aspen Film Festival), Daniel van Hoogstraten (Producer, Syndrome Films) with moderation by Joséphine Bourgois (Paradiso Project).
They discussed the relationship between Brazilian cinema and the main international festivals, with an analysis of the current panorama and the challenges faced by Brazilian productions.
The panel was followed by two master classes with the President of the Brazilian Tourist board, Embratur, Marcelo Freixo, discussing the importance of audiovisual productions in promoting and developing tourism, while Daniel Celli of the Rio Film Commission addressed the role of Film Commissions in strengthening public policies for audiovisual and cultural development.
