For its final weekend, Festival do Rio returns to the sands of one of the world’s most famous beaches, Copacabana, for a series of free outdoor screenings.
As they are public screenings, the program is family friendly starting on Friday at 18.30 with “Turma da Monica, Liçoes” from 2021, to be followed at 20.00 by a special screening of Breno Silveira’s “2 Filhos de Francisco” that will honour the director who died earlier this year when filming.
On Saturday “Pluft o Fantasminha”, a new release this year, will screen at 18.30 to be followed at 20.00 by Carlos Saldanha’s 2011 animated classic “Rio”. And yes, Copacabana does feature.
Sunday, the final day of this year’s festival, will see the screening at 18.30 of Disney’s “Frozen 2” which may attract a lot of little Elsas down to the beach.
Later this year, Copacabana Beach will host one of the five official FIFA Fan Fest sites during the World Cup. The others being in São Paulo, London, Mexico City, Dubai and Seoul
