Two popular global figures are the focus of documentaries that get their first festival screenings Thursday at 19.00 at Cinesystem Praia de Botafogo. The documentaries are  “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” and “The Stones and Brian Jones”.

“Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” will also screen on Saturday at Estação NET Gavea at 17.00 and on Sunday Kinoplex São Luis at 16.15 while “The Stones and Brian Jones” will screen on Sunday at Estação NET Rio at 16.30 and on 16 October at Estação NET Gavea at 21.15.

Christopher Reeve's rise to becoming a major film star, was followed with a near-fatal horse-riding accident in 1995 that left him tetraplegic. Paralysed from the neck down the iconic actor of the Superman franchise became a charismatic activist for spinal cord injury treatments and disability rights.

As a schoolboy aged 14, Nick Broomfield met Brian Jones, by chance, on a train. The founder and creative genius of The Rolling Stones, Brian was at the height of his success, with the world at his feet, yet just six years later he would be dead. The documentary looks at the relationships and rivalries within The Rolling Stones in those formative years. It explores the iconoclastic freedom and exuberance of the 60s, a time of intergenerational conflict and sexual turmoil which reflects on where we are today.
