At 10.00 on Friday RioMarket will ask how best we can communicate with consumers in the digital era. The panel includes Anderson Bitolo, CSO of SimpleAds; Elvys Nunes, Consumer Market Insights Manager & Marketing Director of Nivea and Le Chef Brasil; and Sandro Vieira, Chief Creative Officer of Mark Up. At the same time the lawyer, Marcelo Goyanes, will ask the slightly controversial question of if You Tube is a partner or the villain.
Elvys Nunes will also be on stage at 17.00 when she looks at the Brazilian market and how media can help solve the country’s current economic crisis.
Piracy and rights is a key point of discussion at RioMarket on Friday. At 10.30 RioMarket will offer a piracy case study for the film Amor.com, which screened Thursday in Niteroi. The discussion will be lead by the head of RioMarket, Walkiria Barbosa, who is also the film’s producer, and Luiz Augusto Buff, executive director of 1M1 Arte. That will be followed at 11.30 by a larger panel that will look at what is being done about digital piracy in Brazil. At 14.30 the question being asked is if the new technology of IPTV (the method that transmits TV signals using the internet), could be causing lethal damage to the industry, after which, at 15.30 a panel of lawyers and experts will discuss and analyze the effectiveness of the “Notice and Takedown” mechanism almost 20 years after it was predicted in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Allan Lico, Digital and Branded Content Director for Endemol Shine Group, will, at 11.30, ask that if content is King, is branded content the crown. While at 14.00 Johanna Koljonen, CEO at Participation Design Agency will ask how the film industry can maintain its relevance and build relations with audiences in an age of endless content. The session will look at what is the role of theatrical distribution when most films being made do not reach the big screen; the opportunities for auteur, niche and local cinemas; and how VRs fit into the emerging digital landscape.
At 15.30 a panel of executives, moderated by Giselia Martins the Marketing & Launch Manager of Globo Filmes, will debate new strategies to support the release of small and medium-sized films in the Brazilian market - from P&A to marketing process, and the development of public policies to improve competitiveness by allowing new films into the market.
Music takes centre stage at 16.30, when music publishers, record company executives and music supervisors will discuss how the music industry can collaborate with the audiovisual market, offering good practices for music licensing and the challenges of this process. This is followed at 18.00 when TV and film directors along with producers present the creative process of designing a soundtrack and how music can add value – commercial and artistic – to the final production.
On Friday morning Diliana Alexander, Executive Director of Filmgate Miami, will hold a workshop where she looks at the future of content distribution beyond normal film and independent production.
