On Wednesday, 11 October there will be a full day programme of discussions and presentations among regional and national film commissions starting at 10.00.

There are a number of seminars at RioMarket during Wednesday that start at 10.00 when producers and broadcasters will discuss content dedicated to children and young audiences. Among case studies discussed will be the Brazilian TV series Detetives do Prédio Azul which has become one of the year’s biggest hits on the big screen, selling over one million tickets. At 11.30, Paul Hardy, creative director at A&E will talk about the art of the global pitch, and that will be followed by Eduardo Gaspar, creative director at Endemol Shine Group, explaining how an idea can be turned into a format.

After lunch, at 14.30, a panel will look at how local VOD platforms can compete with the global players, after which, and taking into account that Brazil is now the world’s 8th largest VOD market, a panel will discuss production for VOD.

The day’s main workshop, at 16.00, sees TV Globo’s Mauro Alencar discuss how literature and the theatre are an inspiration for modern Brazilian tele-fiction.

Social media companies dominate the round table meetings on Wednesday with senior executives from Facebook, Twitter, You Tube and Canal Futura meeting with RioMarket participants.

Wednesday’s open event sees a panel of professionals specialized in sports content, debate how best to produce coverage of action and adventure sports. After the debate, the biographical documentary, Gigantes por Natureza, about the surfer Carlos Burle, will be screened.
