12 October is normally a National Holiday in Brazil, but it is also the day the Christ the Redeemer Statue on Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro celebrates its birthday. In 2024, the 93rd since its opening.


The top prizes at the festival - which will be revealed on Sunday, 13 October - are the “Redentor” trophies which are, of course, inspired by Rio’s globally iconic landmark. This year will see more Redentor’s than ever being presented by the juries, with new categories being added for 2024


For Première Brazil there are new prizes for sound and soundtrack, while New Trends gains acting  prizes for actor and actress.
