As has been traditional at Festival do Rio over nearly two decades, a number of major and highly anticipated Brazilian productions are screening Hors Concours during the event.

  • Legalize Já! (Legalize it!), by Johnny Araújo and Gustavo Bonafé, 90 min - World Première
  • Motorrad (Motorrad), by Vicente Amorim, 92 min Latin Première
  • Zama (Zama), by Lucrecia Martel, 120 min Latin Première
  • BIO (BIO), by Carlos Gerbase, 105 min

Among documentaries receiving special screenings in 2017 are:

  • Eu, Pecador (Me, A Sinner), by Nelson Hoineff, 90 min - World Première
  • Os 8 Magnificos (The Magnificent 8), by Domingos de Oliveira, 70 min - World Première
  • Todos os Paulos do Mundo (All The Paulos in The World), by Gustavo Ribeiro and Rodrigo De Oliveira, 80 min
  • Torquato Neto - Todas as horas do fim (Torquato Neto - Every Hour of the End), by Eduardo Ades and Marcus Fernando, 90 min - World Première

The short O Quebra-cabeça de Sara (Sara's Puzzle), by Allan Ribeiro, 10 min will also screen.
