Festival do Rio is presenting a retrospective of the work of American director and screenwriter Paul Schrader. 

 On Tuesday Schrader will introduce his latest feature, The Canyons, at the Odeon Petrobras at 19.15. The Canyons, which premiered at the recent Venice Film Festival, stars Lindsay Lohan and James Deen. On Monda,y Schrader presented American Gigolo at the CCBB, followed by a Q&A with the audience.

Born in Michigan. Schrader started his career as a screenwriter in films such as Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver (1976). His directorial debut was Blue Collar (1978). He teamed up again with Scorsese for Raging Bull (1980) and The Last Temptation of Christ (1988). He directorial credits include American Gigolo, Cat People, Hardcore, Affliction, Patty Hearst, The Comfort of Strangers among others.
