Sunday offered a rare chance to see Wim Wender’s cult classic, “Paris Texas”, on the big screen with a gala presentation at the Cine Odeon. “Paris Texas” won the Palme d’Or at Festival de Cannes 40-years ago in 1984.

The film tells the story of Travis Henderson (Harry Dean Stanton), an aimless drifter who has been missing for four years, who wanders out of the desert and must reconnect with society, himself, his life, and his family. The soundtrack is by Ry Cooder who recreated blues guitarist Blind Willie Johnson's 1927 tune "Dark Was the Night" as the center piece of the soundtrack.

There is another opportunity to see “Paris Texas” on 14 October at 15.45 at Estação  NET Gavea 5.
