On Tuesday at 10.00 Mary Vogt will give a costume design workshop at the Festival Pavilion as part of the RioMarket.

Vogt’s credits include Hocus Pocus, Men in Black, The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Batman Returns and most recently Warner Bros Grudge Match with Sylvester Stallone, Robert DeNiro and Kim Basinger. Vogt also did costumes for the TV series Pushing Daisies.

Vogt will discuss the role of the costume designer in bringing character, colour, and emotion to a feature film through wardrobe design.  She will explain how she initially conceptualizes a character's look, based on the character's place in the story, as well as the unique qualities each individual actor brings to his or her role -- and how that character evolves through sketches, fittings, and directorial input.  She will illustrate her talk with film clips, stills, and sketches from her own work.
