With the end of the working week, Rio Market shows no sign of slowing down, and the day will end with a presentation by the US Ambassador to Brazil, Elizabeth Frawley Bagley (photo), who will discuss the importance of the audiovisual industry and its relations with Brazil.

The Ambassador, who has worked in diplomacy and the law for over four decades, is no stranger to the audiovisual industries. She served as a Board member of SBI., a cellular communications company in Show Low, Arizona, and was an Associate Producer for ABC News in Paris, France and Washington, DC. Her diplomatic experience includes service as Senior Advisor to Secretaries of State John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and Madeleine Albright. She has also served as Special Representative to the United Nations General Assembly, Special Representative for Global Partnerships, and United States Ambassador to Portugal.


Friday will start with a presentation by a panel that will explore the role of the music market in audiovisuals, highlighting the opportunities and challenges involved in commercialisation. Topics such as licensing, copyright and the importance of music in increasing the emotional and commercial impact of productions will be covered The panel will also discuss how artists, composers and producers can take advantage of the growing market for streaming platforms. 


Rubens Caetano de Silva of the Ministry of Science and Technology, will share his vision of the innovations that are transforming the production, distribution and consumption of audiovisual content and explore how science and technology are shaping the future of the audiovisual sector. 


At noon Verena Hitner and Fernando Peregrino will discuss the role of audiovisual innovation in the development of a solid and sustainable state policy for the sector. The speakers will address issues such as the adoption of new technologies, the creation of incentives and the stimulation of creative experimentation and emphasise the importance of creating public policies that keep pace with the transformations of the global market, thus strengthening the local industry and promoting the diversity of narratives and formats. 


Patrick Hegarty will explore the techniques and strategies for creating narratives capable of connecting different audiences of different ages, backgrounds or interests to audiovisual productions. He will address issues such as choosing universal themes, building captivating and authentic characters and balancing complexity with accessibility.  He will also discuss with the audience how to adapt language and narrative to create stories that are inclusive and impactful for audiences, whether specialised or not.

Fernando Ferreira of NetLab will discuss the role of Artificial Intelligence as a tool for the audiovisual industry and explore various applications of AI, from automating creative processes and post-production to analysing audience data. The impact of Artificial Intelligence on the market will also be addressed, helping to optimise costs, predict trends and produce more targeted content. In addition to improvements, the ethical and technical challenges that accompany the use of this technology will be analysed.
