Films screening in competition in Première Brasil at the Odeon Petrobras on Monday include the documentary Fla x Flu by Renato Terra, that looks at one of the classics of world football and the rivalry between Flamengo and Fluminense, two of Rio's major football clubs.

The feature drama screening in competition is  The Beheading Game by Sérgio Bianchi. The film is the story of Leandro, a young man frustrated by his job. His master’s thesis is on the military dictatorship in Brazil. This takes him on a search for the recently deceased artist Jairo Mendes’ and his controversial film The Beheading Game, which was censored by Brazilian authorities in 1973.
