Ten years ago, back in 2014, the Banco do Brasil Cultural Centre in Rio’s down town was the backdrop to a very special evening that saw the presentation of the festival's first Felix Awards to films with what were then listed as “LGBT” themes.

It seemed right on the night that the first award was presented by the then Felix Jury president, Wieland Speck, the director of the Panorama Section of the Berlin Festival, and more importantly for that evening, the co-creator with Manfred Salzgeber of the Berlin Festival Teddy Awards.

In 2024, the 10th anniversary of the birth of the Felix Award, the section highlighted works centred on LGBQTIAPN+ characters and themes. A total of 35 films were screened this year, including shorts and feature films that include the winners of the Berlin Film Festival's Teddy Award and the Venice Film Festival's Queer Lion.

Five FELIX prizes were awarded to the jury’s pick of Best Brazilian Film, Best International Film, Best Documentary, and Special Jury Prize. The winners in 2024 were:

Best Brazilian Feature: “Avenida Beira-Mar”, directed by Maju de Paiva and Bernardo Florim (Producer: Produtora Viralata)
