Première Brasil Debates (previously known at earlier festivals as Cine Encounter), give the festival going public at Festival do Rio the chance to get up close and meet, talk with and question the filmmakers and the cast and crew of the films screening in competition in Première Brasil, as well as in New Trends (Novos Rumos) and The State of Things (O Estado das Coisas). The debates will take place from 8 to 15 October.

These debates include a prior afternoon or early evening screening the day after the gala screening at Estação NET Gávea. These screenings and debates for films in Première Brasil’s main competitive sections (fiction and documentary) are held at the Cine Odeon in Cinelandia, while the screenings and debates for films in New Trends and The State of Things take place in Estação NET Rio in Botafogo.

All the films in the main competition Première Brasil, both features and documentaries, receive other festival screenings, normally two or three days after their initial gala screenings.
