The works of two British directors were on show Sunday at Festival do Rio. Andrea Arnold’s “Bird”, that premiered this year in competition at Festival de Cannes, had a gala screening at the Cine Odeon but can still be seen next Saturday at 14.00 at Estação NET Botafogo and on Sunday at 19.00 at Cinesystem Praia de Botafogo.

In “Bird” Bailey lives with her brother Hunter and her father Bug, who raises them alone in a squat in northern Kent. Bug doesn't have much time to devote to them so Bailey looks for attention and adventure elsewhere.

Director Justin Anderson presented “Swimming Home” at Estação NET Rio on Sunday. The film is an adaptation of cult author Deborah Levy's unique and provocative novel about love, loss and longing. A woman invites a naked stranger found floating in the pool of her family holiday villa to help her set those she loves free.

“Swimming Home” can still be seen on Tuesday at 21.00 at Cinesystem Praia de Botafogo and on 15 October at 14.45 at Estação NET Gavea.
