Ouardia lives in a small abandoned house in rural Algeria. She is long-suffering who is now occupied in burying her son Tarik, murdered by radicals. She suspects her other son, Ali, leader of an armed Islamist group, might be somehow involved in his brother’s death, since one of his henchmen has been sent there to keep watch over her. Shaken by grief and indignant at her son’s behavior, Ouardia attempts to rebuild her life despite all the violence surrounding her world. But what can one do when one’s own children are killing each other off? Venice Film Festival 2012.

Djamila Sahraoui

Born in Algeria, in 1950. She graduated in Literature at the University of Algiers and moved to France in 1975, where she studied Film and lives ever since. Her first shorts include Houria (1980) and Prénom Marianne (1992). She has built a career in documentaries with works such as La moitié du ciel d’Allah (1995) and Algérie, la vie toujours (2001), on living conditions in her home-country. Her fiction first feature was Enough! (2006).
