The exclusively female government of a fictitious country must position itself regarding a foreign nation's imminent nuclear threat. A panel of characters from fiction and real life — specialists in areas like defence, law, politics and psychology — is situated in a democratic Peace Room, mirroring the toxically masculine War Room of Dr. Strangelove (1964), Stanley Kubrick's satire of the Cold War. The performance is a synthesis of an interdisciplinary process which analyses the play of geopolitical power and presents an alternative to the male chauvinist discourse.
Yael Bartana
Yael Bartana (Israel, 1970) is an observer of contemporary life. She employs art like a scalpel in the mechanisms of power structures and navegates the tenuous line traced between the sociological and the imagination. In the last 20 anos, she has dealt with the shadowy dreams of the collective unconscious and dissected identities of the groups and means — of aesthetic and anesthetic persuasion.
