​The body of a sewer worker is found in a sewer in Mumbai. Narayan Kamble is 65, a poet, musician, teacher and political activist. During one of his shows, he is arrested for inciting the worker’s suicide. As the trial progresses, the private lives of the various people involved are scrutinised, and we see the workings of India’s perverse and bureaucratic judicial system. Chaitanya Tamhane

​Born in Mumbai, India, in 1987, and studied English literature. He has won awards for his work as a playwright and theatre director. In 2006, he wrote and directed his first feature documentary, Four Step Plan. He also directed the short Six Strands (2010). This is his first fictional feature film. ​
