Florida, 1969. Ward Jansen, a reporter for the Miami Times, returns to his hometown with Yardley Acheman, his writing partner. There, the duo must report on the execution of Hillary Van Welter, sentenced to death for the murder of the local sheriff. Complications arise when Jack, Ward's younger brother, becomes involved with Charlotte, an enigmatic woman who was previously involved with the prisoner. For this film, Nicole Kidman got a Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe nomination. Part of the official competition at the Cannes,Film Festival, 2012.

Born in Philadelphia, in 1959. Precious, his second feature film, earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Director, and won the Supporting Actress and Adapted Screenplay categories. The film also won the top award at Sundance. As a producer, he was involved in the making of Monster’s Ball (2001) and The Woodsman (2004). Lee Daniels’ The Butler (2013) ill also be shown at the Festival this year.
