The Swiss Uli Sigg played an important role in China’s economic opening phase after the Mao era. He also compiled the most impressive Chinese contemporary art collection in the world. Most of it will be donated to the M+ Museum in Hong Kong, which will open in 2019. By focusing on Uli Sigg – a businessman, diplomat, and excepcional art collector –, the documentary conducts a deep analysis of Chinese society’s evolutions, from the late 1970s until today. Selected for the Locarno Film Festival 2016.
Michael Schindhelm
1960, Eisenbach, Germany. He studied at the International University of Voronezh, Russia, graduating with a master’s in Quantum Chemistry. He is the author of books and opera librettos. Filmography: Chants of the Steppes (2004) and Bird’s Nest - Herzog & De Meuron in China (2008).
