In 2012, jihadis took control of northern Mali, imposing one of the most radical interpretations of the Sharia ever. On 12th August of the same year, they banned music, destroying radio stations, burning instruments and killing and torturing musicians. Survivors were forced to hide or go into exile. This film tells the story of a group of musicians fighting to keep their country’s music alive: a backstage look at the first European tour of young Malian band and the bravery of two singers who put on the first concert in Timbuktu since the imposition of the jihadis came to power.
