Sara is a young woman born into a farming family in the south of the US. Her parents, goat keepers, raised their twelve children at home, rigidly following biblical tenets. Like her sisters, Sara is taught to be a devout woman submissive to men. She also learns that she must preserve her physical and emotional purity until marriage. But when Sara meets Colby, an amateur rodeo rough-rider for whom she falls in love, she starts to question her parents’ teachings. The feature combines documentary footage and spontaneous narrative to portray real people in their communities. Cannes 2013.
