Audiences, poets, original poems and agility: this is the formula for Poetry Slams, performatic championships of spoken poetry that are spreading across Brazil. Born in Chicago, they bring back the tonic of organizing communities around gatherings, free expression and listening. The film observes the growth of the Brazilian scene since 2008, travels to its origins in the USA and follows the 2016 Brazilian champion, Luz Ribeiro, all the way to the Poetry Slam World Cup in Paris, representing the new feminist and black wave that has been establishing itself through the virulence of the politicized spoken word.
