Trailer

In the early 1980s, a group of young women gathered in Toronto to make music, films and fanzines that challenged conventional artistic practices, gender roles and notions of femininity. The Fifth Column, a precursor to the Riot Grrrl movement from which bands like Le Tigre ended up emerging, stretched itself to a global artform allied to political movements. Despite the major impact their work had at the time, almost no one knows or seems to remember the Fitfh Column. And this film shows why. A fascinating documentary on fascinating women. Special appearence by filmmaker Bruce LaBruce.
