George is a seductive, womanizing Beverly Hills hairdresser. Due to his profession, many men think he is a homosexual, which ends up making it easier for him to get involved with many women. He tries to convince a rich businessman, who is having an affair with one of his lovers, to finance a new salon for him. At the same time, he is pressured by his fiancé into getting married as quickly as possible, which may hinder his plans. Directed by Hal Ashby (Harold and Maude, Coming Home), this film was nominated for 4 Academy Awards and won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar.

Hal Ashby

Born in Utah, in 1929, and deceased in Malibu, 1988. One of the major filmmakers in 1970s American cinema, he started his career as an editor in films by Norman Jewison such as The Cincinnati Kid (1965) and In the Heat of the Night (1967), for which he won an Academy Award. He went on to direct films such as Harold and Maude (1971), The Last Detail (1973) and Coming Home (1978), nominated for 8 Oscars, including Best Film and Best Director.
