A story about jongo (caxambu), a form of music and dancing of African origin which is considered the ‘father’ of samba. The story is told from the perspective of descendents of black slaves. The documentary shows the encounter between ‘jongueiros’ (people who practice jongo) from São José da Serra and a jongo group from Serrinha.
Marcio Brito Neto
He studied cinema at PUC-Rio, and worked in theatre for 12 years, winning awards as an actor and director. Among the shows he produced are Ausência and Irmãos de sangue (winner of Shell Award 2015), both from Franco-Brazilian company Dos à Deux. This is his first film.
