Leni Riefenstahl is considered one of the most controversial women of the 20th century as an artist and a Nazi propagandist. Her films Triumph Of The Will (1935) and Olympia (1938) stand for perfectly staged body worship and the celebration of the superior and victorious projecting contempt for the weak. Riefenstahl’s aesthetics are more present than ever today — but is that also true for their implied message? His filmmaking is marked by thorough research, sometimes spanning years. His work has earned over fifty awards, including the European Film Award. He gained wider recognition with his features Black Box Brd (2001), and If Not Us, Who? (2010), which won the Alfred Bauer Prize at Berlinale.
