One year ago, Atsumi tried to kill herself and is presently in a coma. Aided by a new treatment which allows communication with patients in this situation, her friend Koichi tries to discover why she tried to take her own life. He enters Atsumi’s subconscious and finds her at her desk, drawing. She asks him to retrieve a drawing she gave him when they were in school and that will restore her self-confidence. Koichi tries to tell her of the suicide attempt, but Atsumi insists she needs the drawing back. A ghost story from the director of Tokyo Sonata. Toronto and Locarno 2013.
Kiyoshi Kurosawa
Born in 1955, in Kobe, Japan. He studied sociology at the University of Rykkio, in Tokyo. He started out his career directing super 8 shorts in the 1970s. Aside from films, he frequently works in television. Among his works, highlights include Cure (1997); Seance (2000), Pulse (2001); Bright Future (2003), selected for the Cannes Film Festival; and Tokyo Sonata (2008), also shown at Cannes. In 2012, he directed the miniseries Penance.
