Anu married young - as customary in the 1970s in Taiwan - but quickly divorced her violent husband and raised her two daughters by herself. Since then, her relationships have been exclusively with women who, like herself, earn their living as mourners. Directed by one of her daughters, this film confronts Anu with questions that have haunted the director for years and calls into question one of the greatest taboos of Chinese culture and humanity: unconditional motherly love. Winner of the Teddy for best documentary at the Berlin Film Festival 2017.
