Lebanon, 1949. The country is facing an imminent war. Catholic siblings, Emilie and Emir, set off for Brazil. On the way, Emilie falls in love with Omar, a muslim merchant. Unable to control his jealousy, Emir uses their religious differences to separate them. Before reaching their final destiny, Emir is badly wounded in an accident with a gun while fighting with Omar. Emilie's only hope is to alight in an indigenous village in the middle of the forest to find a healer who can save him.

Viajo Porque Preciso, Volto Porque Te Amo (2009), co-directed with Karim Aïnouz, was launched in Venice. O Homem das Multidões (2014), co-directed with Cao Guimarães, Joaquim (2017) and Estou Me Guardando para Quando o Carnaval Chegar (2019) were selected for Berlin. Paloma (2022) was launched at Munich Festival and Portrait of a Certain Orient at Rotterdam.
