Individual and collective stories take place in the Zhili textile workshops, ever more dramatic as the seasons pass. Fu Yun continues to make mistakes and is mocked by her colleagues. Xu Wanxiang does not manage to get paid. A group of workers see their indebted chief beating up a supplier. In another workshop, the boss runs off with all the money. After bitter negotiations, the workers go home to celebrate the New Year.
Wang Bing
Born in Xi’an in 1967, is a Chinese filmmaker known for his independent, challenging documentaries. His acclaimed nine-hour film West of the Tracks (2002) explores industrial decline in China. His work includes Fengming (2007), Dead Souls (2018) and Man in Black (2023) exhibited in Cannes. He won prizes for Three Sisters (2012) e Bitter Money (2016) in Venice.
