When the Italian architect Lina Bo Bardi came to Brazil in 1957, she recognised great potential in the country’s open landscapes pointing towards the future. Disappointed with the conservative forces in Italy she found her new home and workplace in South America, and established herself here as the most important architect of the time. In light of her centenary, colleagues and friends recall the socio-political issues and personal events that lead to the timelessness of her work. This journey also visits her most important architectural projects in São Paulo and Salvador.
