Young Basile Matin is convinced he is going to die if he falls asleep again. He is scared because he has dreamt of the mysterious Faftao-Laoupo, the one who advertises death. He will roam through a dreamscape all the way to the southwest of France. In his journey, he will meet Igor, who doesn’t really understand this business about Faftao-Laoupo, but is interesting in his own way. And Johnny Got, a mix of journalist and detective. Alain Guiraudie
Born in 1964, in France. He made his first short, Les héros sont immortels, in 1990. In 2001, his medium-length Du soleil pour les gueux was shown at Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight. In 2003, he made his first feature, No Rest for the Brave. He went on to direct Time Has Come (2005), best screenplay at Turin, and The King of Scape (2009), which brought him back to the Fortnight. Festival do Rio presents this year a retrospective of his work.
