This documentary reconstructs the life story of a truck driver who became one of Brazil’s greatest filmmakers. Candeias himself is the narrator for his story, and little by little he lays bare his style and genius. The background are the diverse periods of Brazilian cinema and Boca do Lixo, in São Paulo , a major production hub during the 1970s.
Eugenio Puppo
Director, screenwriter and producer, he is a founding member of Heco Produções, based in São Paulo since 1995. He produced film retrospectives Ozualdo R. Candeias – 80 Years, Marginal Cinema and its Borders, Nelson Rodrigues and the Cinema, among others. His most recent films are the documentary São Miguel do Gostoso (2011) and the short film O homem sensorial (2013).
