The orishas rebelled against Olodumaré orders, the Supreme Lord who created the world and inhabits a parallel dimension. As punishment, Olodumaré took the rain away from Earth, leading to dire consequences. No one was able to go to his house to ask for mercy, until Oshun turned into a peacock and flew to the sky.
