Chile, August 2010. After a landslide, 33 miners are trapped in a mine in San José, 700 metres underground. During the first 17 days, they have no contact with the outside world, to the despair of their families. Starving, the group shares some packs of biscuits and tins of tuna, until they manage to give a sign that they are alive. It is the beginning of a rescue mission that will take over two months. Patricia Riggen
Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1970. She is a director and producer known for films such as Under the Same Moon (2007), shown at the Toronto and Rio Film Festivals; Lemonade Mouth (2011); and Girl in Progress (2012). She also directed the shorts The Cornfield (2002) and Family Portrait (2004), as well as the episode ‘Lindo y querido’ from the collective film Revolución (2010), shown at the Berlin Film Festival.
