You are very tired. The pillow is soft. It is late at night and you are almost asleep, when suddenly your body freezes and you are paralyzed. You can see and hear everything around you, but you cannot move. This is when the shadow monster comes. After Room 237, director Rodney Ascher explores the frightening phenomenon of sleep paralysis, which affects thousands of people with no scientific explanation. In-between sleeping and waking, this paralysis brings a world of horror far worse than any nightmare. Sundance Film Festival and South by Southwest 2015.
