Upon getting out of prison, doctor Nise da Silveira goes back to work at a psychiatric hospital in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro and refuses to use electroshock therapy and lobotomy to treat schizophrenic patients. Outcast by the doctors, she is left to take over the abandoned Occupational Therapy Department, where she begins a revolution guided by love, art and madness.
Roberto Berliner
Born in Rio in 1957. He graduated in journalism from UFRJ, directed documentaries, music videos, ads and TV shows. At the beginning of the 80s, he documented the first steps of the Circo Voador movement. In 1993, he founded production company TvZero. His films include You Are What You Were Born For (2004), Pindorama - The True Story of the Seven Dwarves (2008), Herbert Up Close (2008), Ruckus at the Circus (2014), and Julio sumiu (2014).
