​Ned Rifle is 18 and has a plan: to leave the witness protection program of which he is a part of and to kill his father, Henry. The young man has to deal with the religious convictions of his step father, who encourages him to live like a good Christian, and with the insistence of his uncle, who sees huge writing potential in the boy. In the middle of an identity crisis, Ned meets Susan, a lipstick and literature fanatic, who promises to help him. The movie rounds off the trilogy by director Hal Hartley, which includes Henry Fool (1998) and Fay Grim (2007). Toronto and Berlin 2015. ​

Hal Hartley

​Born in the USA in 1959, he studied film at SUNY Purchase. His debut feature – The Unbelievable Truth – came out in 1988. Henry Fool (1998) won the award for best screenplay in Cannes. Flirt (1995) was screened at the Toronto Film Festival, and Fay Grim went to the Berlin Film Festival in 2007. He has also directed films such as Amateur (1994) and The Girl From Monday (Sundance 2005).​
