In preparation for the World Cup and the Olympics, Rio de Janeiro‘s government began in 2011 a military occupation of the city's poorest communities, including Rocinha. Shortly after, reports of police brutality began, culminating in the disappearance of Amarildo, a mason assistant. Due to his family´s protests, which merged with city-wide demonstrations, the case went beyond the community's borders and exposed the constant oppression experienced by local residents. A fascinating and brutal portrait of Rocinha, the largest slum in the country, and the touching story of its residents.
