Kwon, a language teacher, stops by her old workplace to collect a thick envelope addressed to her. Two years before, the Japanese teacher Mori asked her to marry him, but she said no. Mori, who went straight back to Japan after what happened, is back in Korea and looking for Kwon. Inside the envelope are the many letters he wrote whilst looking for his love. Surprised, Kwon drops the package on the floor, spilling the letters out on the stairs. They are not dated, so now there is no way of knowing the order in which they were written.
