Irene lives alone by the coast, near Rome. To her father and her lover, she is a student – but the truth is that she is constantly travelling to Mexico, from where she smuggles back drugs. Her clandestine work has a purpose: to help terminally ill people die with dignity. One day, however, she offers a lethal dose to a new client only to find out later that he is a potential suicide in perfect health. In order to not let him die, she embarks on an intense relationship. This film is actress Valeria Golino’s first feature as a director and was shown at the Cannes Film Festival 2013.

Valeria Golino

Born in Italy, in 1966. One of the most renowned actresses of her generations, she has garnered awards such as the David di Donatello and the Italian Golden Globe in the course of her career. She has worked with filmmakers such as Lina Wertmullers, Krzystof Zanussi, John Frankenheimer and Sean Penn, among others. In 2010, she directed her first short, Armandino e il madre, which she also scripted. This is her first feature as a director.
