Director of Mariupolis (2015), filmmaker Mantas Kvedaravičius returned to Mariupol during the Ukrainian War to be with the residents he met during filming and ended up dead. The documentary shows life in the port city in the midst of bombing and reveals tragic and hopeful images. Screened at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.

Born in Lithuania in 1976, Mantas Kvedaravičius was killed during a Russian attack on Ukraine. Ph.D. in Anthropology from Cambridge University, he directed the documentaries Barzakh (2011) and Mariupolis (2016), in addition to the fiction Partenonas (2019).
