Trailer
Starting with a complete retrospective of Robert Mapplethorpe’s work, this movie invites us to closely observe the explicit photographs of genitalia and sadomasochistic acts that made the American photographer famous. Avoiding a chronological structure, the documentary focuses on the artist’s several reinvention processes and reveals the wild side of New York City. This is the first film about Mapplethorpe since his death and it is the most comprehensive ever conducted on his work. A testament to one of the most dense experiences of art in the 20th. Sundance and Berlin, 2016.
