A journey of resistance and courage, set in the vibrant Salvador of 1835. During their wedding, two young Muslims are torn from their homeland in Africa and sold into slavery in Brazil. Separated by this cruel fate, both struggle to survive and reunite while becoming entangled in the largest slave uprising in Brazilian history: the Malê Revolt.
Antonio Pitanga
A key figure of Brazilian culture and a fundamental presence in black activism. As an actor, he was one of the pillars of the Cinema Novo movement. He starred in classics like A Grande Feira (1961), O Pagador de Promessas (1962), Barravento (1962), Ganga Zumba (1963), A Grande Cidade (1966), A Mulher de Todos (1969), A Idade da Terra (1980) and many others, besides innumerable plays and soap operas. His debut as a director was Na Boca do Mundo (1978).
