The adventures of Macunaíma, lazy, womanising anti-hero with no character. He is born black in the hinterland, but turns white. He goes to the city with his brothers and gets involved with prostitutes, guerrillas, policemen and millionaires. He comes across all kind of people in his unpredictable trajectory. Inspired by Mário de Andrade's novel of the same name.

Joaquim Pedro de Andrade

Joaquim Pedro de Andrade (1932–1988) recognised for the originality of his cinematographic vision, left a film legacy remarkable for its profound dialogue with the most varied aspects of Brazilian culture. Among other classics, his work includes the documentary Garrincha, Hero of the Jungle (1963), The Priest and the Girl (1966), The Conspirators (1972) and Brazilwood Man (1982).
